Farmers are generally reliant on natural cycles, seasons and other aspects, many of which are beyond their direct ability to manage or influence. As a result, advance planning becomes much more important than, for example in a factory, where machines can be switched on and off at will.Â
If we neglect to prepare our does and bucks for breeding for instance, we will in all likelihood have missed an entire breeding season. By not starting nutritional supplementation in good time, the condition score index or fertility levels of our Boer Goats may be inadequate to deliver the results we planned.
The number of activities that need to be carried out and co-ordinated in advance are myriad. Developing a production cycle that details what activity needs to be carried out on which group of animals when is therefore of the utmost importance to ensure that optimum production is obtained.
🗹 Objective
This course details all the various activities that need to be planned and executed at specific times throughout the year in order for our animals to be managed optimally in the pursuit of achieving a pre-determined objective.
