Fertility is probably the single most important economically important factor in livestock farming. Solid Boer Goat genetics, when combine with good management input, can easily deliver 180% kidding percentages. There are few, if any, other livestock breeds that can match this.
Of course, the level of management input at all stages is critical to the success of the Boer Goat operation. Success does not come on its own.
While it has become popular to boast with triplets, quadruplets and even more kids per doe, the commercial producer needs to take note of the additional management input required for these additional kids. The combined weaned weight of well-raised twins is not significantly less than that of triplets, given the same level of inputs.
